How old do I need to be to set up an account?
There is no age limit at Baobabooks. However, if you are younger than 13 years old you will need a guardian to verify your account.
Can I upload my own pictures?

Yes, you can upload your own pictures from your device as well as upload your own artwork that you have done.

How do I start writing? I feel stuck.
We recommend you start by using the Storyboard and Mindmapping tools as these will help you to organize your thoughts and help you come up with ideas. You might also like to choose your pictures and artwork first and use these to inspire your writing.
When I publish a book, what are your pricing suggestions?

We recommend choosing a price between $3 and $20.

Can I work on my book with someone else?
Yes, you can invite another person to collaborate with you and to create even more amazing stories.
How do I create my own account?

Go to the sign up page and fill in your personal details. Depending on your age, you may need to have your application verified by a guardian. Once your account is set up, you can create your own avatar and customize your page!

What kind of support is available if I am having technical issues?

We have a community manager who will be available to help with issues and will connect you to the right Baobabooks team member. We also have an online chat option where you can ask questions and discuss your concerns.

How can I publish a story?

Once you have finished your story it will be approved by the community manager. Then you have the choice of publishing a printed version or an e-book, both of which will become available on the Baobabooks Bookstore. (There is a handling fee for publishing)

I forgot my password, how can I reset it?
You can click here and enter your email address. You will then be sent a link to reset it.
Can I translate the platform into another language or write a story in another language other than English.
Yes, you can translate the page into French or Spanish. You can also write your story in another language if this is approved by your educator.
I want to share my story with someone. How can I do this?
To do this, you can publish your story and then upload it to our Bookstore. Or, you can publish it and have it printed, then sent to you or directly to the person you want to show it to.
Can I set up an account for my classroom?

Yes, you will first have to create an Educator account and then you can use our Google Classroom integration to create a space where you can set assignments, share information with your students and track student progress, among other features.

How many students can I have in my classroom?

You can have as many students as you would like. However, the platform fee increases according to the number of users.

As a teacher, can I provide feedback/comments on my students' work?

Yes, there is an area below the students stories where you can write comments. You will also be able to review their story before they publish it.

Is the Baobabooks platform a safe environment for children?
Yes, we are both GDPR and COPPA compliant. We have a community manager who monitors the platform and ensures that unethical material is not published or permitted.
