Baobabooks Launches 'Make a Difference' Summer Writing Challenge Focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

We are excited to announce the launch of the Baobabooks 2023 Summer Writing Challenge focused on supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and building a brighter future. The Summer Writing Challenge is an exciting opportunity for young minds, 9–15 year olds, from all corners of the globe to come together and make a difference.

Until 1 September 2023 you can join the challenge. Express ideas, dreams and solutions through your writing, as we encourage you to explore the themes of the SDGs and their significance in creating a fairer world. Young people are tomorrow's changemakers so let's spark their creativity today!

"Education, for example, is so important if we are to reduce and break the cycle of poverty," said Jeremy Hartley, Head of Communication and Public Affairs at Baobabooks. "By achieving SDG 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, individuals can be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to build better lives and contribute positively to society."

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations members in 2015, created 17 world SDGs, with the aim of "peace and prosperity for people and the planet". They are an urgent call for action by all countries in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth.
