Baobabooks announces the winners of the 2024 Summer Creative Challenge
Baobabooks today announced the winners of its 2024 Summer Creative Challenge in two different age categories.
In the 9 to 13 year old group, 11 year old Harishankar Saravanan won for his entry entitled 'Letter to CEO', a persuasive letter proposing eco-friendly construction practices and community environmental initiatives. In addition, 9 year old Ankita Srivastava was selected as a winner for her entry entitled 'Ode to Earth – a Plea for Preservation', a moving poem celebrating Earth's beauty while calling for its protection.
In the 14 to 18 year old group, 'Gender Equality' by 17 year old Sunitasah and 'Dusting it Away' by 15 year old Aayushmaan were selected as the winning entries. Sunitasah's piece makes a compelling case for equal opportunities across genders in education and society, while Aayushmaan's poem powerfully illustrates the contrast between human progress and environmental destruction.
"The creativity and thoughtfulness demonstrated by our young writers has been inspiring," commented Soukeina Mamodhoussen, Co-founder and Head of Education and Learning at Baobabooks. "From addressing corporate responsibility to environmental conservation and gender equality, these students have shown that they are not just developing their writing skills – they are using their voices to advocate for meaningful change in our world."
The Summer Writing Challenge was sponsored in part by The Hindu, India's largest English language daily newspaper, and its popular Young World Club. All entries from the Summer Creative Challenge can be read in the Baobabooks library.
