Need help? These are the most frequently asked questions from our users.
I forgot my password. What can I do?
Click the ‚forgot your password‘ button on the login page and follow the prompts on the screen.
Can I sign in as an individual user or do I have to wait for my teacher to register me?
Any person age six or over can create a free account. However, if your teacher has created an account for you, you do not need another one as you can still write freely, whenever you want, using your school account.
Are there tutorial videos to support me while using the site?
Yes. We have several different resources to help you better explore our platform and troubleshoot any technical problems you might encounter.
Is my data protected on the Baobabooks platform?
Yes. Baobabooks is GDPR compliant. That means we will not share your data with any external organizations without your consent.
What happens after I submit my story?
After you submit your story our community engagement team will read and review it. We will then publish it and send you an email to let you know this has been done. Once published it becomes part of our Baobabooks Community Library, but you can also share the link with family and friends!
Who can read my published story?
One of the unique features of Baobabooks is that your story is published and on display for other users to read and purchase. Imagine where your story could travel!
Can other people use my artwork in their story?
If your artwork has been selected and added to our curated gallery, it is on display for any of the other users. This means anyone with a Baobabooks account can also use it in their stories or as a source of inspiration to write a new story.
Is Baobabooks safe and appropriate to use for my child?
Baobabooks is teacher-led and technology driven, keeping in mind the challenging task of designing an engaging and educational website for children to promote literacy while also letting them be creative. Careful thought has been put into the creation of the content on our site so that it is age appropriate for our users and every submission is screened before it is added to the public library or gallery to ensure it meets our platform guidelines.
I’m stuck. I don’t know what to write.
Why not try using one of our writing prompts? You can choose from an image, sentence starter or writing prompt to get inspiration. You could also look through the Baobabooks Community Library, perhaps reading another student’s story will inspire you!
I have not finished writing my story, but I don’t want to continue now. What can I do?
No problem, you can start a story and leave it at any point by saving it. When you save a story it will go into your ‚draft stories‘ which you can come back to at any time to finish.
Can people comment and leave feedback on the story I wrote?
If you invite someone to collaborate with you, they will also be able to comment and leave feedback for you. All comments are reviewed by our community engagement team to make sure they are appropriate and respectful.
I am a parent. Can I have an account as well as my child?
Yes! Parents and their children can create an account or you can share one. Check out our different subscription options as a parent or sign up for free!
