Make a Difference Creative Writing Challenge
Hey there, future changemaker! Did you know that people from all around the world are working together to make our planet a better place? They have come up with some special goals called the UN Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs for short. These goals are like a super-duper plan to help us create a happier, healthier, and fairer world for everyone.
About 
the Challenge
Baobabooks is launching their first ever Change the World Challenge using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We are partnering with a variety of companies, organizations and schools to inspire young writers to engage in this challenge and write about one of the Sustainable Development Goals. Certificates will be awarded to all participants and their stories and artwork will be published on the Baobabooks’ platform. Winners will have their stories featured on our blog and a selection of our sponsors’ websites.

Guidelines and Criteria for the Challenge
Before embarking on your writing journey, familiarize yourself with the Rules and Guidelines for the writing challenge
Writing Challenge
Art Challenge

Use one of the 17 SDG prompts to inspire your writing and artwork.

Any student between the ages of 9 and 15 is welcome to join the Baobabooks’ Change the World Challenge.

Limit your writing to 500 words. You may choose to include images.

Each participant can submit a maximum of one writing entry and is also encouraged to submit an art entry.

The story should be original and one that has not previously been published for a competition. Any story that is fully or partially copied from any other source will not be accepted.

Use one of the SDG prompts to create your artwork.

Any student between the ages of 9 and 15 is welcome to join the Baobabooks’ Change the World Challenge.

Create your artwork digitally or by hand.

Use our tips to help you scan or take a photo of your artwork in order to upload it. Make sure your scan or photo is in .jpeg or .pdf file format.

Each participant can submit a maximum of one art entry and is also encouraged to submit a writing entry.

Artwork should be original and made specifically for Baobabooks’ Change the World Challenge 2023.
The Timeline
- The contest starts on July 15, 2023. Entries must be submitted before 12 a.m. (CET) on September 15, 2023.
- The winners will be announced no later than September 30, 2023 and stories will be featured on the Baobabooks’ community library platform shortly thereafter.
- All participants will receive a downloadable certificate of participation.
